The Underworld is divided into nine distinct circles, ruled by imps, demons, and devils. But the thing is, Hell is not necessarily the fate of those who practice wrongdoing, there are several other ways to punish someone eternally. Instead, Hell is basically a farm. They harvest energy from the sins of mortal beings in the world above, in a process that obeys the laws imposed by Heaven, and of course, demons don’t abide by rules that easily. Instead, they assume forms to offer beings in the Overworld the chance to live out their most alluring sin, the thing that makes their brains go blank. Those who accept are transported to the first circle of the Underworld and are inspected by the imps designated to nurse those in need, helping them adapt to their new reality. From there, they will indulge in what they crave, over and over again. Intoxicated, unable to escape. Living, breathing, and thinking only of their deepest desires for as long as their existence endures.
