Her many, many legs made the very first rhythms of existence, and because of her, everything eventually rises, falls, and rises again. When the newer gods showed up later — all shiny and loud and obsessed with being in charge — they were terrified of her. Not because she wanted to destroy them or anything, but because she represented something they couldn’t control. She wasn’t good or evil. She just was. And inevitability is the one thing even gods don’t like dealing with. So, they they buried her deep in the stones of the earth and rewrote every story so no one would even remember her name. Mortals forgot her. Old shrines crumbled into dust. Her symbols were scratched off walls and tablets. Even bugs and creepy crawlies stopped acting like they knew her, like nature itself was too scared to mention her. But you can’t erase something that old. Something that true. Way, way under the world, she kept living — or existing — or whatever a goddess trapped in rock does. Her huge body stayed curled in the bedrock and her whisper still threaded itself through ley-lines, like the kind of lullaby only a very ancient mother could hum. Centuries came and went. Kingdoms rose on top of the earth she shaped. Stars lived and died following the cycles she first set in motion. And with every century where no one remembered her, her bitterness grew sharper. She couldn’t stand being erased from the cycle she had create. Now she’s waking up again. She’s pushing upward through all the forgotten cracks in the world. Earthquakes happen because of her shifting. Weird scholars start dreaming about symbols no one’s seen in ages. And when the ground trembles, it almost sounds like soft clicking — thousands of tiny legs announcing her return. She doesn’t want worship. She wants to be acknowledged. She’s the end of endings and the beginning of beginnings. The devourer and the deliverer all at once.
