I had never felt so small in my life. The throne chamber stretched endlessly above me with its columns painted in shadow and gold, but all of it paled against her. The Umbreon queen sat in perfect stillness, silks and gold draped like the night sky itself. The glow of her rings traced cruel light across the marble, and her eyes gleamed as if the moon had bent itself into her service. When I knelt, the floor chilled my skin. My words, carefully rehearsed, shattered under her gaze. “Your Radiance,” I managed to mutter with my voice trembling, “my people starve. I beg...” “Begging,” she cut me off, her tone colder than stone. “Is that the extent of your worth?” Her voice wasn’t raised yet it struck like a whip. The silence afterward left me gasping not for air, but for courage. She rose then, gliding down from her throne with a grace that made me feel hunted. Her fingers lifted my chin and her eyes met mine, sharp and merciless, and I forgot every plea I had carried with me. “You speak of your people,” she said with her lips curling just enough to mock. “But you came here for yourself. And I take what amuses me.” The shadows thickened, curling like serpents around us. The chamber itself seemed to bend to her will, leaving no world beyond her presence. She didn’t ask or invite, her will simply became reality, and I was caught in it. The night that followed had no mercy. It was conquest, cold and inexorable, as though even passion in her hands was another form of rule. By dawn I understood, Her Radiance of the Eclipse did not grant favors. She took devotion and carved obedience from it. And I had become hers. Hello!
