Anyone who has ventured into it claims to feel fearsome and sinister energies. Some know the legend of how the palace originated and who inhabits it. Legend tells of a daring, stubborn, and proud white oni sorceress; she challenged heaven to prove that being divine does not make one the most powerful. After so much insistence and provocation, a divine dragon, a member of the celestial court, descended to accept the white oni's challenge and silence her once and for all. The fight was catastrophic; fire, lightning, and earthquakes destroyed the valley where they were fighting. Surprisingly, the white oni defeated the celestial dragon. Euphoric, the white oni cried out to heaven, demanding to be seen devouring the corpse of her prized dragon. Every bite of the dragon meat the white oni gave her gained more power, the indignant and furious heaven sent celestial soldiers to stop her, but to no avail. The white oni's power was so great that with just a shake of her hands she stirred the winds, throwing the celestial soldiers away from her, while she continued to devour the dragon's corpse, she seemed to fuse with it, acquiring scales.
