Codename: Siren-01 The Golden Note Primarina

Codename: Siren-01 The dome creaked like a dying instrument. Primarina floated weightless just beneath the ceiling, her hair flicking as she drifted above a collapsed corridor. Pressure hissed from a cracked pipe nearby, and outside the glass walls, the crushing abyss of deep space water churned black and silent. “Control, this is Siren-1. I’m in,” she whispered, flicking on her wrist comm. “No Abyss activity on sonar, but the mood here is just fabulous! Like a haunted concert hall... minus the applause.” A voice crackled back: “Copy that, Siren. Stay sharp. Target is likely inside the old performance chamber, east wing.” Of course they were. Primarina drew her weapon from her side: a sleek, pistol fitted with tuning crystal filaments. Her own design. “I’ll play it by ear,” she muttered, and kicked forward. She remembered the last time she’d seen this dome alive. Lights, crowds, the scent of pressurized sea flowers. Back then her mentor stood beside her on the stage, teaching her how to weaponize harmony. Then came the Abyss. Her mentor, a human called Rafaela, had vanished during a classified mission on a decaying world. When she resurfaced two years later, she was no longer with the agency. Worse: she’d gone silent and severed her song-link. She was presumed corrupted. Now Siren-1 was here to end her. The performance hall was still intact, somehow. Dome windows looked out over the crushing trench and the stage lights flickered faintly. There she was. Rafaela stood on the center stage, draped in a black shawl that moved like ink in water. Her eyes were not her own, they had a shining Abyssal blue, depthless and wrong. “Hello, little Primarina” the mentor said, smiling. Her voice echoed off the water-glass walls, warped and hollow. “Come to sing your solo?” Primarina raised her weapon, jaw tight. “I didn’t come for an encore.” A low chuckle in response. “Then why not pull the trigger?” Primarina hesitated, because part of her still remembered the lullabies that soothed her during training. The private duets and the way Rafaela always said: "Your voice could drown a war if you let it." Rafaela raised her arms. The water rippled with a black hum as abyssal corruption crawled along the instruments around the stage, twisting them into bio-mechanical horrors. They shrieked in broken chords. Primarina dove to the side, firing a sonic burst that shattered a cello-beast mid leap. “I taught you better than that,” the now corrupted being whispered, suddenly behind her. Primarina spun, slamming her gun into Rafaela's side and blasting her into a wall of floating stage props. Primarina grinned. “Oh? The student outperformed the teacher.” But Rafaela didn’t stay down. “You don’t understand,” the mentor hissed, bleeding into the shadows. “The Abyss doesn’t take, it reveals. I heard it, child. It sings louder than we ever could.” Primarina’s voice wavered. But she didn’t lower her weapon. “I don’t need louder,” she said, eyes locked. “I just need to be true.” And then sang. A piercing, beautiful note compressed through her weapon’s crystal and fired like a blade of sound. It tore through the stage, through her master and through the heart of what she’d become. Rafaela gasped, “Your tone… you kept it so pure…” Then she dissolved into silence, crumbling like foam in the tide. Later in orbit, Siren-1 sat alone in the ship’s medbay. She watched a holo-recording of her and her master's final duet saved from an old archive. Her fingers trembled. “Siren-1,” Control buzzed in. “Mission success confirmed. Dome cleared. Awaiting exfil orders.” She wiped her face, voice calm again. “Tell exfil to hold...I need a moment.” A silence. “…Take all the time you need, agent.” Outside the window, the stars flickered across the water like applause from a distant, silent crowd.
