While people were trying in vain to restore what they had once achieved, and then destroyed themselves, a new danger crept up unnoticed, as if the off-scale radiation was not enough to punish, demons descended on people like a wave, eating out settlements. But as the most capable adaptants that earth has ever seen, humans were able to fend off the attacks of demons and even acquire some immunity to radiation. On the remains of a happy past, the new humanity rebuilt Fortress Cities that protected them from demons and ... from other people. Yes, barely rising to one knee, people again found something to grapple with, history is doomed to repeat itself. No one knows exactly how the Doomsday demons appeared, there have been no records since then, only theories about this are circulating. But more importantly, what do they need?… Everything is simple here, nothing new, they are driven by primitive needs for food and reproduction. They feed on the flesh of living beings (of which there are not very many left on earth), they need blood for the development of offspring, like mosquitoes. People also created a classification of demons according to their destructive power - only 5 classes, from small feeble bugs to those whose appearance is comparable to a natural disaster. People don't know much about demons yet, but they have revealed a frightening pattern - the stronger the demon, the more it looks like a human, as if an evil doppelganger, a more advanced form of life, displaces the former owners of this planet. In addition to the appearance, high-class demons have self-awareness, although not as clear as a human, but it makes them less predictable and takes them beyond the cycle of devour-multiply, high-rank demons can control smaller demons, creating a semblance of hives. Some demons may simply watch people with interest, suppressing their instincts in favor of simple curiosity. They do not mindlessly reach out to human settlements, but settle at a distance, where it is safer, and protect the clutch of eggs from which their obedient children will appear, intelligent demons are not ready to risk their own core for food.
